SANKOFA CDC OPEN HOUSE
After several months of planning and many hours of manual
labor, the executive board of the Sankofa CDC opened the doors
of their temporary headquarters on Saturday June 2, 2001.The
executive office is located in building number two at 2 N.
Wickham Road.Dedication and open house took place in conjunction
with the annual church festival sponsored by the New Psalmist
Baptist Church in Southwest Baltimore City, MD.
After the dedication prayer by the Pastor, Dr. Walter S.
Thomas the church opened their newest addition, the historic
Baker Mansion which sits on the 26 plus acres acquired by
the church on N. Wickham Road.
Held on the open field near the corner of N. Wickham Road
and the 5000 block of Frederick Ave., Dr. Walter S. Thomas
and the church membership celebrated the 102nd anniversary
of that church. The festival included, food, games, vendors,
booths and taped/ live music performed by the choirs of the
church.
Sankofa CDC’s permanent headquarters will be located
at 5002 Frederick Ave., which is currently in its planning
stages of a five-year historical renovation and restoration
plan.
